Automotive Students Competing Nationally

Moorhead High School automotive students Ken Bye and Bryce Jossund placed first in the Minnesota AYES National Automotive Technician Competition. They will compete in the National Automotive Technology Competition April 2-3 in Manhattan. Their automotive instructor is Lauren Rood.

The national finals, which are held in conjunction with the New York International Auto Show, occur over two days. The students’ overall knowledge is tested, and then each team must diagnose and repair a number of pre-assigned problems in a “bugged” car within an allotted amount of time. Each “bug” correctly repaired is worth a number of points, depending on the level of difficulty.

The Moorhead students’ trip is sponsored by the Minneapolis Auto Dealers Association.
