The Moorhead Area Education Foundation will sponsor the 22nd annual MAEF Phonathon from 6:30-9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25 and Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, in the Moorhead High School commons.
Last year, more than 75 Moorhead High School students gathered 585 pledges totaling $20,270. This year, students have a goal of raising $25,000, all of which will be used for scholarships in 2013.
The Phonathon is the major fundraiser for the Moorhead Area Education Foundation. Other funds come from businesses, service clubs and individual contributions, plus interest from the MAEF Endowment Fund. The funds raised in 2012 allowed MAEF to award $92,200 to 65 graduates. Since the first scholarships were given in 1991, a total of $1,128,050 has been awarded to 1,389 graduates of Moorhead High School.
The mission of the Moorhead Area Education Foundation is to raise money and receive gifts of money or property to enhance educational programs for students in Independent School District 152. The foundation provides scholarships for post-secondary education and grants for innovative education enhancement projects in classrooms district-wide.
