School Board members from Moorhead, Fargo and West Fargo listened to presentations during the districts’ first joint board meeting on March 1 at Trollwood Performing Arts School.
Dr. Lynne Kovash, Moorhead superintendent, Dr. Rick Buresh, Fargo superintendent, Dr. Dana Diesel Wallace, West Fargo superintendent, and Judy Green, United Way, spoke about the work being done related to on-time graduation rates. The districts have identified on-time graduation as a community-wide problem. Efforts to improve graduation rates will include literacy development and early childhood efforts, mentoring / tutoring, and family engagement.
The three School Boards also heard a presentation about the youth entrepreneurship program, which is a joint venture with the NDSU Research and Technology Park and the districts. The entrepreneurship program is building a youth mentor network and preparing for an entrepreneurship academy in June.
